  1. For those concerned I do not drink from my Grayl cup, unless it’s after a boil, the Grayl is a water bottle! So placing the filter in it while collecting protects the filter from ground debris and keeps it safe. Thanks for your concern 😉 it’s all really about Risk Management I have drank water All over the world many times unfiltered or filtered in some makeshift fashion and I have NEVER gotten ill. I think we over dramatize this subject quite a bit honestly

  2. I was a Grayl fan no exceptions UNTIL Dave made it clear that viruses get filtered out. Don’t get me wrong the Grayl still has advantages mainly cleaning it out is much easier. However. The canteen filter system is better in my opinion in a few ways. 1. Grayl filters 65 gallons. This canteen filters twice that If not more. 2. It’s lighter weight even with the usgi canteen cup added and the aluminum stove. 3. It holds 32 oz of water not 24 oz like the Grayl geopress. And 4. Which is something no one I can tell including Dave Canterbury has mentioned yet, is that it is a multi use hygiene item. You can shower with it while squeezing water out of the canteen and wash yourself off. You can warm water up with the canteen cup and have a half way decent survival shower. Not to mention the canteen being squeezable you can use it as a make shift bidet and use rhe clean hand dirty hand technique when you want to be hygienic while taking #2 and not having toilet paper 🧻 or worries about spreading disease. Especially since squeezing filtered water without any viruses or pathogens is a massive risk if you clean yourself without uncontaminated water. Bacteria or worse can enter your body in more ways then the front door sorta speak.

  3. When it comes to my Grayl Geopress, weight is not a concern. It is hands down my number one go-to. The stainless steel nesting cup is just frosting on the cake. I have the nesting cups for both of my Grayls plus several replacement filter cartridges.
